And while they even captured video footage testifying to their find, other Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans likely won't be able to replicate this glitch.
Over the years, Nintendo fixed a wide variety of Animal Crossing: New Horizons bugs that have been identified since the game's March 2020 release. But the fans of its cozy life sim are still finding more of them to this day.

ACNH Player Finds Infinite Manila Clam Source on Friend's Island
Reddit user SunburntPalkia can attest to that fact, having recently stumbled on an infinite source of Manila Clams while wandering across their friend's Animal Crossing: New Horizons island. Specifically, one of the isle's seaside tiles appears to have glitched, as it would yield a new clam every single time it was dug up. The useful spot was located at the very end of the beach to the right of the isle's airport dock. In a subsequently shared video footage of this find, SunburntPalkia's character was seen procuring three Manila Clams in quick succession, averaging more than one every ten seconds.
The player said that they were pleasantly surprised by this glitch, having immediately used it to fill out their inventory with Manila Clams in order to craft Animal Crossing: New Horizons' fish bait. "I was digging up the same clam for like five minutes straight," the player recalled. However, the spot was no longer yielding infinite resources after they returned from crafting fish bait. They have consequently shared their discovery on the r/AnimalCrossing subreddit, asking others fans whether they had any idea what might have caused this immensely useful glitch. As of late July 2024, none did.
ACNH Infinite Clam Glitch Might Be Multiplayer-Related
Replicating this Manila Clam farming technique hence seems to be impossible for the time being. One fan theorized that the glitch might have something to do with the fact that the game session was in online multiplayer mode, i.e., that the airport gates were open for visitors, as indicated by the fact that SunburntPalkia's shovel was spinning before each dig. But that might have merely been a coincidence, as some players had previously also stumbled on the same bug in local multiplayer.
Tinkering in multiplayer might hence be the key to replicating the glitch. Given how the latest Animal Crossing: New Horizons update is nearly two years old by now, Nintendo is ostensibly done supporting the game and thus won't be patching out this peculiar clam bug.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the fifth major game in the Animal Crossing series. This slice-of-life simulation game tasks the player with developing an abandoned island into a small town for its resident villagers. The game was released at the start of worldwide lockdowns amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which catapulted it into massive success. It's currently the best selling game of all time in Japan.
