• Pennichuck, New Hampshire PUC reach proposed temporary rate settlement -- MERRIMACK, NH, Sept. 1, 2006 -- Pennichuck Corp. today announced that its subsidiary Pennichuck Water Works Inc. has reached a settlement with the staff of the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission regarding Pennichuck Water's request for temporary rate relief. The terms of the settlement, which will not become effective unless approved by the New Hampshire PUC, provide for an annualized increase in Pennichuck Water's revenues of about $2.4 million, or 14.41%. • Dow announces plant closures to strengthen competitive position -- MIDLAND, MI, Aug. 31, 2006 -- In its ongoing drive to improve the competitiveness of its global operations, The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) announced today that it will shut down a number of assets around the world.

Calif. water pipeline project reaches second major milestone -- FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA, Aug. 30, 2006 -- Orange County Water District (OCWD) completed the second of three segments of a 13-mile pipeline that will connect a new state-of-the-art water purification facility in Fountain Valley to an existing percolation pond in Anaheim. The pipeline is part of the Groundwater Replenishment (GWR) System, an innovative water purification project designed to provide a new supplemental source of high-quality water for up to 20% of north and central Orange County residents. The GWR System, a joint project of the Orange County Water District (OCWD) and Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD), takes highly treated sewer water currently released into the ocean and purifies it using the same technologies that purify baby food, fruit juices, medicines and bottled water. • NanO2Tech kills microbes without chlorine -- MONTREAL, Canada, Aug. 30, 2006 -- NanO2Tech, a Canadian company is launching the ACTIV 3000 electroperoxidation water purification systems. ACTIV 3000 systems were conceived mainly for private and public pools as well as for drinking water applications. The patented Electroperoxidation technology, co-developed with ETE and CNRS in France, disinfects automatically water without using chlorine-based chemicals. It is the only process that destroys micro-organisms such as bacteria, virus and parasites by applying electric current while oxidizing the water at the same time.
